HAND IN HAND THROUGH GOLDEN FIELDS
I first met Kendra at a local coffee shop in our hometown a few months before her wedding. I was immediately drawn to her character and personality -- and, unsurprisingly, I later discovered she’s a Pisces like me! Her strength, resilience and yet gentle kindness were an absolute joy to sense during our conversation. So, I was beyond thrilled when she let me know I had successfully been hired to capture their wedding.
When I arrived at Kendra and Kyle’s home for their engagement session, I was greeted by four of the friendliest dogs I’ve ever met -- one of whom was ready to climb into my Jeep with me! Honestly, I might have let him had Kyle not called him back -- a moment that also marked my first “introduction” to Kyle. And Kyle? A polite cowboy with a love for all things antique (a detail I discovered as we explored his collection during our session).
Before we started, Kendra and Kyle admitted they hadn’t done photo sessions before and were expecting to feel awkward. That only lasted five minutes. As we moved through the session and got to know each other, their love became palpable -- immense, generous and utterly inspiring. There’s no greater joy for me than sensing my couples’ love and then capturing it on camera.
From wandering through the harvested field of the neighbouring farm and weaving around hay bales, to strolling hand in hand down the side road and then to the sunlit old tractor and vintage motorcycle, this session was a resplendent mix of old and new. Each location had its own charm and energy and it felt like the perfect reflection of Kendra and Kyle themselves -- a combination of warmth, nostalgia, playfulness and steadfast love.
The little moments made the session feel so natural: Kendra and Kyle laughing together as they explored the fields, sharing quiet handholds on the side road and enjoying the simple joy of the antique tractor and motorcycle as the sun created a golden halo around them. Every frame captured a snippet of their connection, their personalities and the joy they bring to one another.
Even with a cloud of mosquitos following our every move, we created a stunning series of images in the golden hour that beautifully told their story -- a story full of love, laughter and the perfect mix of timeless charm and modern romance.
