A FALL ENGAGEMENT IN CALGARY
O and S first reached out near the beginning of the year, full of excitement as they began planning their 2026 wedding. From the very first message, it was clear they were dreaming of a day rooted in intention, romance and quiet beauty. As they shared their vision and the elements they had already thoughtfully chosen, I felt immediately drawn to the love that seemed to surround their plans. There was a softness to the way they spoke about their day; a sense that it wasn’t about spectacle, but about feeling.
Our initial consult was charming and unhurried, the kind of conversation that flows easily and leaves you smiling long after it ends. It was clear from the start that O and S were my ideal clients: open-hearted, deeply connected and grounded in their love for one another. The kind of couple who values presence over perfection and moments over poses.
Their engagement session took place in Calgary, Alberta, near the iconic Peace Bridge on a stunning fall day. The light was gentle, the air crisp and the city seemed to slow just enough to give us space to wander. We began by walking through the beautiful landscape surrounding the bridge, letting the session unfold naturally as we made our way into the towering trees of Prince’s Park. Leaves crunched softly beneath our feet as we followed winding paths, eventually drifting down toward the river’s edge.
Watching O and S throughout the session was quietly incredible. Though they described themselves as shy, there was a noticeable shift as time passed, a soft unfolding. With each step, laugh and shared glance, they became more at ease, more present with one another. Their connection came alive in the most genuine way. I loved how they trusted the process completely, open to gentle guidance while allowing moments to happen organically, without force or expectation.
One of the most memorable moments came when S decided (on a whim) to climb a tree. It was spontaneous, playful and perfectly them. Those few minutes resulted in some of the most sweet and endearing engagement images from the day, capturing not just how they look together, but how they feel together.
We continued through the tree-lined paths of Prince’s Park, letting the afternoon carry us forward, eventually ending our walk at the River Café. There, tucked alongside the water, they shared a beautiful rose champagne toast -- an intimate, celebratory pause that felt like a quiet promise of all that’s still to come.
Their engagement session was a reminder of why I love what I do: witnessing love as it unfolds naturally, documenting connection without pretence, and preserving the fleeting, honest moments that so often mean the most.
