GOLDEN HOUR LOVE
Brittany and Jonathan first reached out to me in 2024, excitedly sharing their vision for a stylish, heartfelt, and beautiful celebration of love. With plans already set for their December 2025 wedding, it was clear from the beginning that they were putting immense thought and care into every detail. As part of the wedding package they selected, a complimentary engagement session was included -- and this gave us the perfect opportunity to get to know each other better before the big day.
We chose a mild October afternoon for their engagement session, and met at Fish Creek Park, a beloved Calgary location known for its natural beauty -- especially in the fall. It was one of those classic autumn days where the light was soft, the leaves had turned to golden fire, and the park was buzzing with energy (and, no exaggeration, at least 50 other photographers capturing their own sessions in the seasonal glow!). Despite the crowds, we found quiet pockets of nature to make our own and began creating images that felt genuine and rich with emotion.
Engagement sessions are such an important part of the wedding journey. Not only do they offer a chance for couples to become more comfortable in front of the camera, but they also help to build a sense of ease and trust with the photographer. By the time the wedding day arrives, we've already laughed together, posed together, and shared a few beautiful moments -- making the photography experience feel less like a production and more like a natural part of the day.
With Brittany and Jonathan, the connection was effortless. Their warmth, playfulness, and deep affection for one another made every frame feel alive. We timed the session for golden hour, that dreamy window just before sunset when the world is bathed in soft amber hues. The light wrapped around them like a gentle hug, casting prismatic flares and sunbursts that elevated the entire mood. The result? A stunning set of images that not only reflect their undeniable chemistry but also the story of this season in their lives -- real, joyful, and glowing with love.
