AUTUMN SUN & COWBOY CHARM
Three weeks after their engagement session, Kendra and Kyle’s wedding day arrived with autumn gently settling in around us. We all held our breath, wondering if the trees would still be dressed in their golden leaves but nature had a surprise for us. The foliage glowed warmly in the sun and the weather was nothing short of perfect, as if the day itself was conspiring to celebrate their love.
The morning began at their home, where Kendra and her bridal party were filled with laughter, excitement and quiet anticipation. Watching Kendra flow through her preparations, from the delicate brushstrokes of her makeup to her effortlessly elegant hair, was like seeing a calm centre in the swirl of wedding-day energy. Each smile, each gentle touch from her friends, radiated joy and connection -- moments that felt both intimate and timeless.
Arriving at the DeWinton Community Hall, Kyle greeted the day with his own signature charm. In a moment both practical and iconic, he grabbed a pair of wire snips and cut the tags off his suit -- a true cowboy hallmark. That simple, understated gesture became one of my favourite images of the day, embodying quiet confidence and a hands-on sense of problem-solving that perfectly reflected Kyle’s personality.
The ceremony itself was officiated by a close friend and groomsman, who confessed later to being a bundle of nerves despite years of public speaking experience. But as Kendra and Kyle exchanged vows, any anxiety melted away, replaced by a profound tenderness and sincerity. Every glance, every whispered word, every shared smile felt charged with meaning. Their first kiss as a married couple drew joyful applause and cheers from everyone present, marking the beginning of their shared journey in a way that was deeply moving to witness.
Afterward, we moved into wedding party portraits. Riding into a sprawling field overlooking the river below, the wedding party arranged themselves naturally, giving me the opportunity to capture images that balanced scale, elegance and authenticity. Then came one of the most magical moments of the day: Kendra and Kyle alone, down by the riverbanks of the coulee, framed by steep cliff edges and the quiet hush of nature. The sunlight filtered through the branches of an old tree, casting a golden glow over the couple -- a moment that seemed almost suspended in time. Every image from that location tells a story of connection, intimacy and enduring love.
Back at the reception, the energy shifted to laughter, celebration and candid joy. I captured Kendra and Kyle interacting with their guests, soaking in the love that surrounded them and highlighting the thoughtful details that made their day uniquely theirs. And, in a humorous twist worthy of their playful personalities, they realized they had forgotten their real rings at home. Luckily, this led to an impromptu ring-sharing ceremony after our session -- a spontaneous, authentic memory that will surely be recounted for years to come.
Kendra and Kyle’s wedding was a masterclass in warmth, authenticity and romance. From quiet, intimate moments to bold, playful gestures, from golden autumn light to riverbank serenity, every frame captured the essence of their love and the beauty of the day. It was a celebration that will linger in memory, just as the images will forever reflect their joy, their charm and the beginning of a lifetime together.
