LOVE IN THE LIGHT
I absolutely love couples who are willing to lend creative control to me. There is no greater joy than collaborating hand in hand with a client to craft stunning, lasting memories. Jordan and Dakota, a beautiful couple from Vancouver, flew in for a few days to spend time with family, friends and, of course, to Stampede it up. Their engagement session was an absolute joy to photograph.
With a request for editorial-style images and striking architecture, we headed to Calgary’s Central Library and it did not disappoint. From the moment we arrived, the space offered stunning lighting, warm wood elements, sweeping stairs, and windows galore -- a perfect canvas for a session that felt both cinematic and intimate.
Though they self-identified as shy, Jordan and Dakota’s love for each other quickly became the focus. Their connection was tender and calm, natural and supportive. Within about ten minutes, the initial nerves melted away, and they began to truly own the session. From carefully guided movements on the stairs to playful exploration of light and shadow, their chemistry radiated in every frame.
Afterward, we made our way into East Village, where red brick walls and colourful murals provided the perfect backdrop for editorial images with personality and edge. Each shot captured the authenticity, strength, and quiet intensity of their love -- a love that is unmistakably true and grounded.
Jordan and Dakota’s session was a seamless blend of creativity, architecture and heartfelt connection, resulting in images that will not only be beautiful memories but also a lasting reflection of their bond.
